Photographic Practice
This module establishes some key conceptual and technical foundations for the production of practice-based projects. It introduces students to different ways ideas may be generated, produced and validated.
It explores two common visual strategies, the series and narrative, while teaching the core technical skills necessary for the creation of photographic projects.
The module aims to open up a critical space in which these conventions can be questioned and used. The technical skills taught include DSLR cameras, lighting, digital workflow, printing and presentation skills. Students will also develop understanding and ability in visual research, time and resource management.
Students will be provided with a relatively wide brief which they must interpret and narrow to a more specific idea, then develop this through the production of a practical photographic project.
