This module provides a foundation in key theoretical and analytical approaches rooted in historical and socio-political perspectives that will be further developed in the level 5 spring modules and in level 6 modules. It will extrapolate key themes introduced at HE1 level during the Thinking Through Dance modules and will incorporate approaches taken from dance history, sociology, cultural and gender studies and explore the work of theorists such as Michel Foucault, Pierre Bourdieu, Stuart Hall, Susan Leigh Foster and Helen Thomas.
