Performance in Asian Cultures

Asia’s traditional, popular and contemporary musics explored in their cultural context and through practical workshops, focusing on the musical arts of Japan, India and Indonesia. (No prior musical knowledge required). Part of the paper includes the study of music through participation in which you learn to play gamelan (Indonesian percussion), koto (Japanese zither) and taiko (Japanese drums).
