Spend your time living in beautiful Costa Rica as you help contribute to the empowerment of young people through music. Share your own music skills and learn about regional performing arts through this incredible volunteering opportunity.

Overview

Share your passion for music by volunteering with young people in Costa Rica’s capital, San Jose. We work with a variety of volunteer placements, including music schools, orphanages, day care centers, public schools, and after school programs. We also have relationships with government-sponsored arts education organizations where a variety of instruments are available.

Volunteer placement requires at least ten hours a week for a minimum of one week. For more specific information about a typical day on this program, please see the “Host Group” tab.

Testimonials

"One part of the trip that was especially inspiring was when I taught a young boy, around 10 years old, how to read music for the first time. He had been playing violin for 6 years but didn't read music, just played by ear and mimicking what he heard. Teachers tried to show him to read music without success, but I guess what I said to him clicked because he is understanding much better and told me that I was a good teacher! I have never been so pleased in my life." -Karli Rhind
