Filmmaking Intensive Workshop in Florence, Italy

Train in filmmaking with working industry professionals and write, direct, shoot, and edit your own films with the breathtaking city of Florence as your backdrop!

Overview

Spend two or four weeks of your summer living in Florence and training in filmmaking with working industry professionals from the New York Film Academy. You will spend the first week participating in PAA excursions and cultural activities, and exploring Florence on your own. The workshops are all-day intensive training sessions, and from day one, you will be writing, directing, producing, and editing your own films with top-notch equipment provided for you by the program and the city of Florence as your backdrop. Two-week program participants will produce one film, and four-week program participants will produce two film projects of increasing difficulty.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

-Age: Participants must be 18 or over the day they begin the program.

-GPA/Student Status: You do not have to be a student to apply for this program. However, if you would like to receive academic credit for the training you will need to provide your academic transcript, or a copy of your high school diploma or GED.

-Language: There is no language requirement for this workshop, as all teaching will be conducted in English. However, we highly recommend learning as much Italian as possible before the program to give you more access to the city while working on your films.

-Experience: While no prior experience is mandatory, we recommend applicants have at least one year of experience in one or more filmmaking areas (writing, directing, editing, camera work, etc.)

-Motivation: We are looking for open-minded, flexible applicants who can clearly convey their passion for film and an acute interest in international travel and exposure to new ideas.

You will fill out a simple initial application online and pay a $200 deposit that is refundable if you are not accepted, and will be applied toward your overall program cost if you are accepted (not an additional fee). At this point, we will ask you to send us the following materials:

-Your resume/CV
-A questionnaire about your goals and interests
-A film reel and/or online portfolio (optional)
-Your availability in U.S. Eastern Time for a 30 minute Skype interview

We will contact you with an acceptance decision within two weeks of your Skype interview.
