The Chance of a Life Time

Big BenThis summer I got to spend 8 weeks in London, England interning in a theatre called Omnibus through Performing Arts Abroad. I had the opportunity to learn in an upcoming Arts Centre that just opened several months ago. Onmibus was one of the best experiences I could ever ask for. The people that worked there made me feel like I was part of their community. I got to learn what being a Technician overseas was like. I learnt about the industry and the difference between West End theatres to a Community theatre. I had the opportunity to run a couple of shows by myself, and listened in to a couple of upcoming new musicals that were rehearsing in the building, and I even got to be an extra in a movie that was filming at the theatre!

On my days off I got to explore this wonderful city and learnt so much about the culture. London is such a vibrant city that there’s never a dull moment. I had the chance to be there during the World Cup, the Tour De France, Pride, and even the Musical Festivals like British Summer Time in Hyde Park. My favorite moments were walking around Oxford Circle, grabbing some ice cream in Hyde Park or catching a show in the West End. There was so much to see and do that it took me all those weeks to get everything done.

I learnt so much about myself and what it was like to live in another country. Made some lifelong friends along the way and a lot of memories that I will cherish forever. It was truly the chance of a life time.
